Hi there and greetings from Bridlington (East Yorkshire, England), the sleepy little
seaside resort where Julie (my wife), Elly (my now not so little daughter), myself
(Gert Meyers) and our two cats, enjoy life.
Why this page? More marketing? Not really. I just want to show you that www.gmnetpromos.co.uk
is a site with real people behind it, not some cyberobot type site that never gets seen by real
humans either.
So how did I get into Internet marketing? Well, as a fully qualified chemical engineer
I enjoyed the blessings of a steady career up to about 5 years ago (although the idea
of starting a business of my own was never far from my thoughts all that time!).
Then lightning struck in the form of an unexpected redundancy! All of a sudden,
at the age of 35 and after 10 years of steady progress, I found myself "on the market"
(i.e. on the streets!). And this is where Internet marketing came in? No my friend, not
just yet...
Realising that job security is something that simply didn't apply any more in today's world,
I decided to take the plunge and I bought a small restaurant (above which we still live).
I always enjoyed cooking so why not? It certainly made a change from engineering!
It certainly taught me a thing or two about small businesses in the off-line world.
The intricacies of stock management (especially limited shelf life stock such as food),
the huge overheads (loan repayments and interest, insurances (business and life),
waste management tax, business rates etc. The list is endless), dealing with
10.000 to 20.000 customers PA on an individual basis, coping with wear and tear
in both dining room and kitchen, fencing off relentless competition from all angles...
All of this makes running a small business in the off-line world a very difficult thing to
pull off and with no guarantees of success whatsoever! And even if you are successful,
expansion is even harder to make work because it will cost you a lot with no guaranteed return of your investment!
To make ends meet, both my wife and me had no option but to go and work for someone else,
during the long winter where visitor numbers are all but zero. And this is were I decided
to search the net for something I could do from home, in my own time. I didn't have any
preconceived ideas about "what" exactly and scoured many opportunities, including adcopy
writing, typing, envelopes etc. Off course I also "met" several SFI affiliates on the net
and started researching this opportunity which had struck me right from the start as sincere.
So I joined! And now I'm making a six figure income? No not just yet but success takes time
to achieve and I'm well on my way. And hey: it's a damn sight easier than running a small business
in the off-line world!
About SFI's marketing: oh, yes, they DO love a bit of hype but all fairly low key and hands
on. No, I'm not going start singing SFI's praises here, there's enough of that on the Home
page. Just one little secret ingredient of their success: FREE! That it's free is good for
the sign-up in two important ways:
1. The prospect pays nothing to join so there is no risk
2. Much more importantly: when you join, what have SFI gained? Exactly: NOTHING! They will
only gain if YOU gain. Hence SFI's tireless efforts to supply you with everything you need
to succeed, so they succeed through you.
Their efforts really show. Did you know they PAY seasoned discussion board members to reply
to members' posts.
Enough or I'll get carried away!! (I LOVE SFI!)
In the mean time I've set up a second ebusiness: I really got so frustrated with looking for quality and affordable
Marketing Tools that I decided to bring a large number of them together on one site and offer
these products and services to fellow marketers, other SFI affiliates and small home business
owners in general. The result: our sistersite which you can also view from here!
So there you have it: a bit about myself and my family and the history of
www.gmnetpromos.co.uk. I'm always open to ideas for partnerships, link or
banner exchanges or other co-operative ideas so feel free to suggest.
I hope you enjoyed my pages and I wish you all the success you deserve,
dear co-internetter.
